One day while cleaning the Chapel of the prison institution that I was serving time in, I noticed a great number of dead flies on the window sill! Was it because of the fall months now coming in or was it because of the insecticide I spraying in the air?

Then I began to ponder: "Why do flies come into Church?" And with a gleeful smile, I couldn't help but wonder that some people come and go into the church, just like these flies. They always are going to and fro, busy getting busy in everybody's business. They're always buzzing around in your face, in your affairs, and in your mess! Always disturbing you. Always annoying you. Always!

The bottom line is flies love to get into some mess. It does not matter if it blood or flesh! And what about the mess you were in before you came to the Lord, even before you came to the Church? The Church is full of people ashamed to speak about their past. Buzz, buzz. Anther fly flew by and I thought about how one feels when they are driven our of their comfort zones! But just like these flies, some people believe they have earned a right to salvation!

After all, they have been in the Church the majority of their lives Some have done great works and even believe that they have faithfully upheld the traditions of their religion from generation to generation. As I dusted the pews and sat in my favorite seat, I began to wonder, "Really, what is the beef?" Why am I so concerned about these flies?! And then a scripture I remembered the Pastor saying came into my mink like a light bulb: John 15:4 "Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me!"

I stood to my feet. That's it! That's it! I found the answer to my pondering questions about these daggone flies! Flies are too busy getting into people's mess. Flies may have a purpose ecologically according to God's nature, but they have no place in the Church. Are you disruptive to others in Church service? Are you one searching to and fro, to get into some mess? 2 Corinthians 13:5 " examine yourselves as to whether you are in the Faith! "Got'em", as I finally killed the last fly. I strongly suggest you get into the Word and allow the Word of God to get into you, or you may end up like these - dead Flies!
